ABOUT

About Back 2 Basics Cooking

I aim to differentiate my classes from competitors by emphasizing at-home cooking and a more down-to-earth tone. I avoid terms like "healthy eating" or "junk food" and instead promote a healthier relationship with food and add more nutrient-dense foods. My classes are built on discipline, respect, and authenticity. I encourage hands-on learning and provide engaging activities that foster problem-solving skills. To ensure students master essential technical skills, such as knife handling, I offer detailed demonstrations and written instructions. The birth of Back 2 Basics Cooking in July 2014 was inspired by my journey towards healthier living. After experiencing the transformative power of home-cooked meals, I was driven to share my passion with others. I aim to demystify the cooking process, making it accessible and enjoyable for all, regardless of age or ability. I don't believe in labeling food as "healthy" or "junk" but instead focus on fostering a positive relationship with food. Whether you're an adult looking to enhance your culinary skills, a child just starting in the kitchen, or part of a corporate team seeking a fun bonding experience, I aim to create a space where learning to cook becomes a source of joy and unforgettable memories. As I approach our 10th year in business, I'm proud of the community we've built at Back 2 Basics Cooking. It is more than just cooking education; it is a warm, friendly, and down-to-earth environment dedicated to helping you unlock your culinary potential. My brand voice is warm, friendly, and down-to-earth, resonating with the people of Mid-Missouri. It strikes a balance between being informative and conversational, creating a sense of trust and familiarity. I believe in empowering people to cook more foods from scratch or less processed, teaching everyday culinary skills, encouraging creativity, and building confidence. Back 2 Basics Cooking is a unique culinary educational platform, founded by me, Chef Ashley, in July 2014. From a personal journey to get rid of my migraines and a love for home-cooked meals, the concept aims to empower individuals of all ages and abilities to create delicious dishes in their kitchens. My teaching philosophy revolves around understanding each student's unique learning style and employing diverse instructional methods such as demonstrations, written instructions, and hands-on tasks. I strive to create a relaxed, engaging, and fun learning environment that inspires a lifelong love for cooking. Contact me today to learn more!
